The Flu and Growing Boys

This has been one of those weeks. More stinky weather, threatened school closings and oh yes, the flu. Technically, I am the only one that has it, but Alan came home from school early on Wednesday with a fever and was all around miserable. On Thursday I called his pediatrician who said just to wait and see if he develops anymore symptoms before bringing him in. That afternoon I went to my appointment and found out that I had the flu, so I came home grabbed my boy and ran him to the closest Urgent  Care. After 2 hours in the lobby with me wearing the mask of shame, we went to the exam room.

Ala was a real trooper during the swab test ans just cuddled in my lap until we got the results. His test was negative, but we went ahead and got Tamiflu for him. So far today he seems to be back to his regular self and doing well. I still feel like I lost a street fight with a chain smoker, but hopefully that will end soon.

One interesting thing was seeing how much he has grown. It seems like Alan is taking after his sister by being one of those "off the chart" kind of kids. He is 49 inches tall and 50 pounds. He is getting to be such a big boy! I guess that explains why he eats so much. I am nervous about the teenaged years.
